Talking about current events builds students' interest in the world around them. It is important that students begin a life long habit of looking at the news and reading current events in our world to understand what is happening. Students will take part in a brief discussion of the current event that is presented that will help students get into the habit of noticing, finding out about, and becoming involved in the issues that affect them. In our classroom, we will have one student share a current event each day to spark interest, learn more about the world, and expand our knowledge. Below is a monthly calendar with the name of a student each day who is responsible for sharing their current event that day.
