Why Poetry?
Poetry is an essential part of the curriculum for students learning about language and literacy. Our classroom will have a poetry workshop once a week for 90-120 mins. This will allow students to see how important poetry is and give lots of time for them to investigate, work with, and play with words. Students will work in poetry centers for majority of the block that will allow them to work with poetry in a variety of ways and work on their personal anthologies.
